3D Printers
On New York Time I came across an amazing aticle about 3D printers. a comapny in san frasico is creating designer bodyparts using the advancements in 3D printing. It creates 3D objects by stacking one layer of material on top of each other.
Some real world applications of this amazing break through are endless, mainly you can have to feasibility to print out any thing you need at home such as technology limbs, or replace parts for appliances around the house. shipping and shopping goods could potentially be a thing of the past if 3D printers take over our lives. Instead of going out and shopping consumers could just print out the goods at home using a 3D printer.

Dancing Transformer
On Slate.com I saw a video of a dancing transforming robot. It had the ability to go from a moving car to a standing/walking robot. The walking robot could perform extravagant movements such as dancing and shooting plastic misses out of his hands, as well as giving a victory fist pump.
In the future our cars could double as robots, driving us to where we need to go and protecting us from dangerous bad people, by transforming into a monsterous robotic
Navy Water Assault Drone
A video put up on slate.com this week showed a new Navy assault drone shooting at targets 2 miles away with great precision. We have all mostly heard of air plane drones but now there are sea drones too. I like this new technology a lot. I can definitley see an application for the technology, for example using the sea drone to take down a pirate raid so no one gets hurt. I definitley think within the next 5-10 years this technology will be widely used. from day one the sea drone will be lowering the death rate on the open ocean. The sea drone is great technology and will most definitley be put to good use.
Robot Rock Band
Robot Rock Band The three rocking robots are called Compressorhead (also feat. stick boy Jr.). This band or metal heads do song covers like blitzkrieg Bop and Ace of Spades. I think this band of robots is pretty cool. It's defintley a cool fair attraction or something i could see it Walt Disney World. But i dont think humans will ever let robots share there musical kingdom. So very cool, but I think thats all it will ever be, a cool toy someone invented.
Article Review
These are two article reviews related to the topic of robotics.
New DARPA weapon
I saw a video of an inch worm looking robot crawl around on the surface of a table whle exploring Slate.com. The robot inched along the robot mimicing the movement of a slug, by squezing and stretching its body. The movement works by running current through a very conductive metal that stretches and shrinks due to temperature changing. Some real world applications for this robot would be to use this robot to travel rocky terrain or sneak through small spaces. In the mental feild this could be used to make realer more movable fake body parts. Overall this is a pretty neat robot!
The Salad Bot
The salad bot is a robot that can cut cucumbers up and make a salad. It detect the objects with its eyes and uses preprogramed knowledge to cut a cucmber evenly. It then puts the knife back in the knife holder and pours dressing all over the nice looking salad. Its amazing to think that we have the technology to make a robot cook for us. No longer will we need house wifes to make us dinner when we return home in the future, instead we will have a robot cook any meal we want. I cant wait!
Machines for Disaster Response
DARPA has a new challange at task, their goal is to effeciently design and build succesful robots that could potentially save people in need. Their primary goals of the robot are:
1. Drive a utility vehicle at the site.
2. Travel dismounted across rubble.
3. Remove debris blocking an entryway.
4. Open a door and enter a building.
5. Climb an industrial ladder and traverse an industrial walkway.
6. Use a tool to break through a concrete panel.
7. Locate and close a valve near a leaking pipe.
8. Replace a component such as a cooling pump.
With these skills people of the future will be much more safer, as well as makeing the lives of firefighters, who now-a-days risk their lives everyday to save oters, less risky. I believe that this idea should be followed to the most percices degree, for that this acheivement is more than just an acomplishment, its a key to an advanced and more secure world, for our children and ou

The Leggy Bot
On Slate.com I saw a pair of robotic legs walk across a room. The robotic legs were the most human like robotic legs that have ever been created. They Walked and mimicked human movement perfectly. This idea of copying something that already exist and is practical is a smart way to go about designing robots. I believe in the next couple of years legs mimicking human movement could be surgically attached to our body, making you stronger or faster or to just replace a missing limb.
